Job description

Are you looking for a new challenge whilst working within the Community?

We are seeking a physiotherapist to provide expert assessment and management of patients with a wide range of pathologies. The role involves working with physiotherapists, student physiotherapists, non-registered staff, healthcare professionals, GPs, consultants, patients, and carers.

You will deliver high-quality physiotherapy services within Torbay, including community rehabilitation, crisis response, and intermediate care. Flexibility to work across these areas based on service needs is required, including participation in the Baywide Intermediate Care weekend rota and late duty rota within the zone. Coverage of other localities within the Trust may occasionally be necessary.

For more information, please contact us.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver high-quality care to housebound patients in Torbay, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with primary and secondary care.
  2. Perform all clinical duties autonomously, including professional and legal accountability, managing clinical risk, and delivering care as part of a multidisciplinary team when appropriate. Often, you will be the sole healthcare professional responsible for a patient's episode of care.
  3. Conduct advanced physiotherapeutic assessments for patients with complex physical, psychological, cognitive, and behavioral conditions to provide accurate diagnosis and prognosis.
  4. Develop and implement individualized physiotherapy treatment programs, utilizing manual therapy, therapeutic handling, patient education, electrotherapy, exercise (individual and group), and other treatment options. This includes making appropriate referrals and employing advanced communication, questioning, and reasoning skills.

The Torquay Health and Well-Being Team is a large, supportive team committed to mentoring members and students, and delivering quality care to housebound patients. We work collaboratively with allied health professionals within the locality. Our team values flexibility and promotes a healthy work/life balance.
