Job summary

Military Medical Personnel is seeking a Locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to cover an MoD assignment at RAF Brize Norton Medical Centre in Carterton, Oxfordshire. The role is 30 hours per week over a 9-week duration.

The successful candidate will deliver MSK assessment and treatment, working within the MDT to maintain the highest standards of care for MoD personnel. Pay rate is £31.11 per hour.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is mandatory.
• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
• Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
• Minimum 2 years post graduate MSK clinical experience.
• Experience as Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent MSK assessment and treatment with supervision.
• Manage referrals from Consultants, GPs, and other clinicians.
• Collaborate with MDT to maintain high standards of care.
• Use clinical reasoning for accurate diagnosis.
• Develop and deliver individualized treatment plans.
• Communicate with patients to ensure consent and understanding.
• Coordinate with rehab staff and external medical personnel.
• Provide clinical reports and discharge planning.
• Support audit and research activities.
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient records.

Job summary
We are looking for a Locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at RAF Brize Norton Medical Centre in Carterton, Oxfordshire.
This is a locum role (30 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.
Pay rate: £31.11 per hour
Main duties of the job

• To provide independent highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment, treatment and efficient and effective management of an MSK caseload under supervision (Band 7 Clinical Specialist or Medical Officer (MO)).
• To manage patients referred by Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals with diverse presentations and complex and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries.
• To work closely with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure the highest standards of care.
• To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
• To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning
• To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential accepting that patients may have barriers to communication e.g. English as their second language.
• To communicate effectively with all other rehabilitation and unit personnel and with external medical personnel from other agencies/units.
• To advise the Medical Officer and/or other rehab clinicians with regard to specialist physiotherapy recommendations.
• To provide clinical reports to supply clinical prognoses and comprehensive discharge planning for other medical professionals and, where appropriate the military Chain of Command (CoC).
• To support any relevant audit and research activity.
• To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment, patient appliances and aids, attaining competence prior to use and including the identification and reporting of work service requirements and repair needs within the department.
• To ensure the care, maintenance and proper use of materials, equipment and stationary and the accurate administration of any allocated inventories.
• To maintain high standards of recording, filing and storage of patient and statistical information are achieved and maintained in accordance with local policy and professional standards.

Essential qualifications

• Must be HCPC Registered.
• Must be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
• Must have a Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
• Must have experience working at post-graduate diploma level in the assessment and treatment of muscular-skeletal disorders, sports injuries, orthopaedic conditions, mobilisation and manipulation.
• Must have a minimum of two years post graduate clinical experience in MSK disorders. This shall be evidenced within the CV.
• Must have previously held a position as a Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 or equivalent.
• Must have evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
