Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced static Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join our Trauma Orthopaedic inpatient service at Aintree Hospital. The role involves managing patients’ needs from admission through rehabilitation and discharge, working on a 7-day rota.

The successful candidate will provide senior support to the team, led by the Band 7 OT and Physio. Applicants must possess excellent communication, organisational, supervisory, and leadership skills.

The service provides specialist assessment and treatment of trauma orthopaedic in-patients, ensuring high-quality care across pathways. We prefer candidates with experience in acute critical care, respiratory, and orthopaedics, especially those with trauma orthopaedic experience and respiratory on-call competence.

You will support the MDT in delivering interventions to improve trauma orthopaedic patient outcomes, demonstrating strong patient-centred values, the ability to drive positive change, and a commitment to integrated MDT working.

Why join us? At Aintree, you'll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking therapy department committed to staff development, advanced practice, and research. We value your voice and expertise, offering mentorship, CPD opportunities, and a chance to shape the future of AHP service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-standard physiotherapy services to patients with orthopaedic conditions.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with various orthopaedic conditions and offer educational support to colleagues, patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct specialist orthopaedic assessments and treatments, including complex and chronic cases, to determine diagnoses and physiotherapy plans.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Support junior staff by supporting, prioritising, and delegating caseloads.
  • Support supervision, teaching, and education within the team, including acting as a Clinical Educator for students.
  • Contribute to operational management and deputise for team leaders when necessary, liaising with Therapy Managers.
  • Utilise evidence-based practice to support service development, audits, and recommend improvements.
