Qualifications

We have an exciting opportunity here at Dorothy House, for you to come and join us and work in a really dynamic, forward-thinking, progressive and supportive hospice that is recognised as a leader in palliative and end of life care, and a leader in palliative care education and research!

We are focused on holistic rehabilitative palliative care, delivering personalised care and support and you will be a key member of our allied health professionals' team!

SPECIALIST PHYSIOTHERAPIST | Band 6 £37,338 - £44,962 per annum (pro rata)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Specialist Physiotherapy Delivery: Provide expert physiotherapy interventions for patients with palliative care needs across in-patient, day patient, outpatient and community settings.
  • Holistic, Person-Centred Care: Champion a rehabilitative palliative approach, ensuring patients and their families receive tailored, compassionate support in line with personalised care plans.
  • Multidisciplinary Team Integration: Act as a key member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), collaborating with nursing, medical, therapy and social care professionals to support seamless care delivery.
  • Service Planning & Improvement: Contribute to the development, auditing and evaluation of physiotherapy services, identifying opportunities for innovation, growth and best practice.
  • Leadership & Supervision: Line manage designated staff and volunteers, supervise students, and support the professional development of therapy team members.
  • Teaching & Knowledge Sharing: Deliver education to patients, families, colleagues and wider networks, including self-care techniques and physiotherapy-based training.
  • Quality, Safety & Governance: Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with HCPC and hospice policies; contribute to safeguarding, clinical governance and service quality standards.
  • Professional Development & Networking: Stay up to date with palliative care best practice, engage with relevant professional networks and participate in shared learning and supervision.

HOURS OF WORK

Based at our Hospice in Winsley. This is a Part Time position, working 3 days a week.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy (BSc/BSc Hons or equivalent) and registered with the HCPC as a Chartered Physiotherapist.
  • Evidence of CPD, particularly in complex care or palliative care, with a clear interest in holistic, rehabilitative approaches.
  • Post-graduate experience in acute or community healthcare settings, with skills in managing complex physical conditions.
  • Proven ability to assess complex needs, create tailored treatment plans, and apply shared decision-making in care delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied caseload independently.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and/or external agencies in a healthcare context.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records, using digital systems, and supporting service documentation needs.

Desirable requirements:

  • Registration Experience or willingness to develop in extended scope practice areas (e.g. acupuncture, non-pharmacological support).
  • Previous physiotherapy work in community settings, including domiciliary visits or outreach work.
  • Experience supervising students, staff or volunteers in a clinical environment.
  • Confident in providing physiotherapy-based education to patients, families, or colleagues.
