Job summary

Military Medical Personnel is seeking a locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to support MoD services at Cottesmore Medical Centre near Oakham, Leicestershire. The role is 20 hours per week, focusing on high-quality MSK assessment and treatment for MoD personnel.

The candidate should be HCPC registered with MCSP membership and have at least two years of post-graduate MSK experience, plus CPD evidence. You will join a dedicated MDT and receive dedicated support from a recruitment consultant.

Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
Post-graduate MSK assessment and treatment experience.
Minimum two years post-graduate MSK clinical experience.
Previously held Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Provide MSK physiotherapy assessment and treatment under supervision (Band 7 Clinical Specialist or MO).
Manage patients referred by Consultants, GPs and other professionals with diverse conditions and injuries.
Collaborate with MDT to maintain high care standards.
Use clinical reasoning for accurate diagnosis.
Develop and deliver evidence-based, individualized treatment plans.
Communicate with patients to ensure informed consent and understanding.
Coordinate with rehab staff and external medical personnel as needed.
Advise on specialist physiotherapy recommendations.
Provide clinical reports and discharge planning for medical staff and CoC.
Support audit and research activities.
Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment and inventories.
Maintain high standards of record-keeping and data storage.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Locum Physiotherapist (Band 6) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Cottesmore Medical Centre, in Oakham, Leicestershire.

This is a locum role (20 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rate

PAYE £27.05 (£24.14 + £2.91 holiday pay) per hour

Umbrella - £31.11 per hour

Main duties of the job

To provide independent highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment, treatment and efficient and effective management of an MSK caseload under supervision (Band 7 Clinical Specialist or Medical Officer (MO)).
To manage patients referred by Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals with diverse presentations and complex and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries.
To work closely with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure the highest standards of care.
To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning
To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential accepting that patients may have barriers to communication e.g. English as their second language.
To communicate effectively with all other rehabilitation and unit personnel and with external medical personnel from other agencies/units.
To advise the Medical Officer and/or other rehab clinicians with regard to specialist physiotherapy recommendations.

To ensure the care, maintenance and proper use of materials, equipment and stationary and the accurate administration of any allocated inventories.
To maintain high standards of recording, filing and storage of patient and statistical information are achieved and maintained in accordance with local policy and professional standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Must be HCPC Registered.
Must be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
Must have a Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
Must have experience working at post-graduate diploma level in the assessment and treatment of muscular-skeletal disorders, sports injuries, orthopaedic conditions, mobilisation and manipulation.
Must have a minimum of two years post graduate clinical experience in MSK disorders. This shall be evidenced within the CV.
Must have previously held a position as a Specialist Physiotherapist Band 6 or equivalent.
Must have evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
