Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the acute rotation at Broomfield Hospital. You will be part of an agile, friendly, highly motivated team of Physiotherapists working within multidisciplinary teams delivering rehabilitation to, and discharge planning for, in-patients and outpatients in various settings.

You will be responsible for assessing, treating, and clinically managing patients with a range of conditions; creating the treatment programs required to achieve a successful discharge.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing Physiotherapy in both acute and outpatient settings.

Within Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust, we offer a robust teaching and training program with opportunities to complete Quality Improvement and Audit projects. We provide a supportive and engaging environment for therapists to develop and grow.

Main duties of the job
  1. Assess and treat own caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner.
  2. Maintain appropriate communications and records, working as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  3. Provide high-quality treatment to all patients.
  4. Demonstrate a commitment to continued development of skills and knowledge through CPD, training, and participation in the rotation scheme.
  5. Supervise practice of assistants clinically.
  6. The posts are rotational, covering all areas of the acute hospital including:
  • Emergency Department
  • Stroke
  • Critical Care
  • General Surgery including Amputees
  • Burns and Plastics at the Regional Speciality St Andrews Centre
  • Medical wards
  • Outpatient Musculoskeletal Department
  • Orthopaedics including Elective Surgery at Braintree Community Hospital
  • Elderly care

You will work within integrated teams of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Therapy Assistants, supported by Advanced Physiotherapists across all areas.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications (Essential):

  • HCPC registered physiotherapist or pre-registration student
  • BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy

(Desirable):

  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and course attendance
  • Member of a Special Interest Group

Knowledge & Experience (Essential):

  • Broad clinical experience at undergraduate level, working within MDT
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organise, prioritise, and delegate
  • NHS experience as student, band 5, or assistant

(Desirable):

  • Competent IT skills
  • Supervision experience of staff or assistants
  • Previous experience as a Therapy Assistant
