A distinguished selective grammar school in Dorchester, consistently ranked among the highest–performing schools in the South West, is seeking a passionate and intellectually rigorous Physics Teacher to join its vibrant Science Faculty this September. The successful candidate will teach Physics across KS3 to KS5, including AQA A–Level, and contribute to a department known for academic stretch, independent inquiry, and outstanding student outcomes.

The school has a proud tradition of success in STEM, with large sixth–form cohorts progressing to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities in Physics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Computer Science. The department benefits from specialist labs, a recently upgraded suite of demonstration and practical equipment, and close ties with local universities and science institutions.

Co–curricular opportunities include leadership of Physics Olympiad coaching, STEM Club, Astronomy Society, and off–site enrichment trips such as CERN visits and UK Space Agency workshops.

  • Specialist facilities include fully refurbished laboratories, a laser optics bench, motion–capture sensors, and digital data–logging suites.

  • Enthusiastic and ambitious pupils with high levels of independent study and extracurricular engagement.

  • Strong CPD culture including lesson study, mentoring for chartered status, and subsidised postgraduate study.

Candidates must hold a Physics or related degree and QTS, with a proven record of success at GCSE and A–Level. Grammar or selective school experience is an advantage but not required. A willingness to contribute to broader school life and academic societies is strongly encouraged. Enhanced DBS clearance is mandatory.
