Overview

This position is located at McDonald Army Health Center, Ft. Eustis, Virginia.

Fort Eustis is located near Newport News, VA. Since the turn of the 19th century, Newport News has been known as the provider of the nation's finest, technologically advanced military ships. Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

Responsibilities

As a Physician (Psychiatry), you will:

  • Provide treatment services in any capacity including, inpatient services, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, tele-psychiatric services and routine and intensive outpatient services.
  • Examine and conduct thorough studies of presenting patients and evaluate laboratory and clinical findings, prescribing appropriate treatment or referring patient to appropriate specialty clinics.
  • Provide biopsychosocial evaluations using integration of laboratory, radiological and clinical findings, making fitness and suitability determinations for duty.
  • Provide psychiatric care for walk-in patients presenting with acute illnesses of minor and major proportions.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to update and maintain skills.
