Job Details

The Department of Medical Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC), seeks highly qualified academic physicians in Hematology or Medical Oncology to join the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HMSCT).

Candidates must possess an M.D., or D.O. degree, be BE/BE in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology, and be eligible for a medical license in Pennsylvania.

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding disease-focused early academic physician at the Assistant Professor rank, with some prior experience in clinical research in lymphoma, and the potential to build a national reputation as an independent investigator and leader in clinical research. Experience in translational research is of additional interest but not required. An interest in education and an early track record of mentoring trainees are also valued.

The Division of HMSCT, based in center city Philadelphia, is recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and training. Faculty and nurses provide complex, multidisciplinary, and personalized care to hundreds of patients with various hematologic malignancies, including rare and complex blood cancers, attracting referrals nationally and internationally.

The division is a leader in developing new therapies for blood cancers, managing a pipeline of clinical trials through three disease-specific (Lymphoma, Myeloma, Leukemia/MDS) and one modality-specific (BMT/CART) multidisciplinary disease groups. These include CART- and CAR-NK cell therapies, molecularly targeted therapies, and immunotherapies. The clinical trial portfolio is bolstered by an outstanding Phase I program in partnership with the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) and a robust Health Delivery Research group.

As an NCI-designated consortium cancer center, SKCC includes researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University, offering excellent shared core facilities. Located in Philadelphia, a vibrant urban city, it provides ample opportunities for professional and social engagement. Jefferson values diversity and encourages applications from women, minorities, LGBTQ individuals, disabled persons, and veterans.
