Description

The Department of Psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland (MH MMCP) is seeking a well-qualified BC/BE Adult Psychiatrist or Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our Psychiatric Emergency Service as a faculty clinician-educator.

About the position:

  • Join a pool of emergency psychiatrists to provide shift coverage in the ED, 12 hours/day, 7 days/week, following a hospitalist scheduling model.
  • Average of 13 shifts/month, with ample blocks of time off for a full-time position.
  • Some weekend and holiday work is expected, with no overnights.
  • Assess patients in the 6 bed Acute Psychiatry Unit (APU) embedded in the Emergency Department or in the emergency department proper.
  • Support from interdisciplinary team comprised of Psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Providers, Social Workers, and Nurses
  • 4200 patients are assessed annually, and our service is highly valued by our colleagues and stakeholders.
  • The Psychiatric Emergency Service is a major teaching resource for the hospital.
  • Involvement in training experiences for adult psychiatry residents, child & adolescent psychiatry fellows, Tufts University School of Medicine medical students, and trainees in other fields.
  • Our psychiatrists hold faculty appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine.
