Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Physician Associate to join the Dermatology team at Bristol Royal Infirmary. We have one permanent position and one fixed-term maternity cover available.

You will work alongside Consultant Dermatologists, specialist nurses and other clinicians to assess patients, aid diagnosis and treatment planning, support specialist clinics and contribute to service improvement, education and audit activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BSc/BA undergraduate degree prior to PA training.
• MSc/PgDip in Physician Associate Studies from a recognised PA programme.
• Current and valid certification or re-certification by the Physician Associate National Exam; GMC registration.

• Clinically assess and examine a broad caseload of patients with high clinical skill.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging, escalate to senior staff as needed.

Are you an enthusiastic Physician Associate with an interest in Dermatology? Are you looking to develop specialist skills within a friendly, supportive and innovative team? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We are seeking motivated Physician Associates to join our established Dermatology team based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. We currently have one permanent position and one fixed-term maternity cover opportunity available.

As an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Consultant Dermatologists, specialist nurses and allied healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care for patients with a wide range of dermatological conditions. The role offers the opportunity to undertake patient assessment, contribute to diagnosis and treatment planning, support specialist clinics, and play an active role in service improvement, education and audit activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established Physician Associate workforce within a progressive and forward-thinking Dermatology service. Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will work under clinical supervision of the consultant body on their pathway to provide and deliver high-quality care to patients.

They will be required to:

• Clinically assess and examine a broad caseload of patients with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge.


• Competently interpret diagnostic tests and imaging and appropriately act upon the result, including timely escalation to senior clinicians.


• Be expected to provide suspected cancer and routine clinics, working towards two clinics per week, for both patient cohorts, and a weekly diagnostic biopsy list.


• Assist in the triage and assessment of patients referred to the on-call service.


• Develop extensive specialist knowledge and experience of the subspecialty in which they are working.


• Perform diagnostic and LA day case procedures under consultant supervision.


• Fully integrate within the multidisciplinary team, communicating with other healthcare professionals.


• Make complex referrals to appropriate specialists and enact their advice promptly.


• Provide health and wellbeing counselling to patients and their relatives.


• Contribute to the development of efficient care pathways following current best practices and national guidelines.


• Request and interpret results of investigations when necessary.


• Fully document all aspects of patient care and complete all required paperwork
