Job Description:

This role involves supporting senior physical testing technicians in preparing and testing samples for physical, footwear, and flammability test methods. The technician must follow ISO 17025 quality procedures to ensure traceability and accurate data reporting.

Main duties:
  • Prepare and test leathers, textiles, and polymers using standard physical test methods.
  • Test the durability of shoes and components.
  • Conduct flammability tests.
  • Review work bookings to ensure correct testing procedures are followed.
  • Collate data and produce technical reports.
  • Perform peer reviews and countersign reports.
  • Conduct shoe fitting assessments (training provided).
  • Maintain accreditation scope and comply with ISO 17025 during UKAS audits.
  • Support commercial teams with technical inquiries.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and cleanliness.
  • Assist with other duties as required.
Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience or knowledge of textiles and leather (not essential).
  • Experience working in a commercial testing lab (not essential).
  • Membership of the Society of Shoe Fitters (MSSF) (not essential).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and a sense of urgency.
  • High standards of precision and record-keeping for UKAS accreditation.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and hold a full driving license (vehicle provided).
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when needed.
