Your impact

Our values are the fundamental tenets shared across our organisation and the standards we hold ourselves to: We do things right | We aim higher | We challenge the accepted | We live inclusion.

People are Jacobs’ greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent. In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programs, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships.

About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of Security professionals and work on a range of projects for our diverse client portfolio that covers Critical National Infrastructure industries such as Rail, Aviation, Highways, Water, Energy, Power and Defence. We are focused on building and developing long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with our clients.

We develop solutions that address our client’s critical challenges when supporting their security objectives. As part of our team, you will provide support across the full spectrum of security engineering activities: design, development, integration, delivery and in-service support of complex technical projects. You will deliver security solutions, address risks and support secure infrastructure.

  • Full time employment with us is based on 40 hours per week but we will happily consider reduced or compressed hours that are mutually beneficial.
  • This role is based on a Hybrid basis from the Jacobs office in London, Birmingham, Cardiff, York, Leeds, Manchester or Warrington and will require occasional client travel.
  • We require you to have or be able to gain SC level security clearance.

Some key responsibilities include

  • Developing security standards and policy in line with client requirements and industry best practice.
  • Develop security requirements, architecture, design, assessment approaches, security management plans and risk management approaches for operational sites.
  • Conduct security reviews and audits, support accreditation activities with the client and regulating authorities.
  • Consult on security operations including protective monitoring, incident management, incident response and incident recovery activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to Business Development when necessary and maintain your familiarity with legislation and regulations of relevance.
  • Engage with all stakeholders including the emergency services.

Here's what you'll need

  • Degree-level qualification or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong technical background in physical security and commissioning integrated systems; additional professional security qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.
  • Detailed knowledge of design, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of integrated physical security solutions within Critical National Infrastructure.
  • Practical experience of security risk/threat assessment approaches and the ability to convey the business benefits of a threat-based, risk-informed security approach ensuring business risk owners are empowered to make appropriate and proportionate security decisions.
  • Ability to coordinate planning and implementation of security projects in complex environments, understanding the design considerations with emphasis on operational safety and the security of operating environments.
