Job description

JOB TITLE: Physical Performance Lead

LOCATION: Cobham

CONTRACT: Fixed Term - 12 Months

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join our Women’s Academy as a Physical Performance Lead. This role's main function is to provide relevant and high-quality physical performance sessions across the age groups, to support injury prevention, return to play and the LTAD model of the women's academy. The Physical Performance Lead will devise, manage & deliver an elite LTAD programme designed to produce players that are physically capable of playing for Chelsea FC Women.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver football specific physical sessions, relevant for the age group and implement.
  • Support with and deliver rehab based pitch sessions across the age groups in accordance with the Women's Academy lead physio.
  • Plan sessions appropriately to the ability of the current players and in accordance with the technical document and syllabus.
  • Work with the age group Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Medical Lead and Goalkeeping Coach, when planning the delivery of sessions.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to both the Academy Player care lead and Academy Welfare Officer.
  • Work closely with the Medical Team and support injury prevention as well as return to train and play protocols are followed.
  • Support on all players IAP’s and target setting meetings. This will be done in accordance of the Physical performance lead and age group Head Coach.
  • Undertake a progressive and ongoing professional development process, attending and participating in in-house CPD sessions (when possible) and external sessions (if relevant).

What you will bring to the role

  • Excellent observation, evaluation, and communication skills
  • UKSCA (Essential)
  • MSc or other equivalent post-graduate qualification in Sport and Exercise Science or something similar (Desirable)
  • FA Safeguarding Qualification
  • FA First Aid Qualification
  • UEFA C Licence (Essential)
  • UEFA B Licence (Desirable)
  • Experiences working within Academy football or with Youth Female Athletes
  • 3-5 years’ coaching experience in an elite youth development football environment (Essential)
