Job description

We are looking for a Physical Health Lead Nurse (RGN) to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Ealing. You will be expected to work 24 hrs a week (Monday - Friday), 8 hrs a day.

Main duties of the job

We also believe very strongly in patient-centred care, involving our service users in shaping their own treatment and all aspects of hospital life.

About us

Cygnet was established in 1988. Since then, we have developed a wide range of health and social care services for young people and adults with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries, eating disorders, autism, and learning disabilities within the UK.

Job responsibilities
  • Establish, lead, and coordinate evidence-based physical health practice initiatives across the service, including ongoing monitoring of physical health of all patients, annual health checks, in collaboration with ward Doctors and Physical Health Lead Nurses.
  • Lead infection control practices for the hospital, ensuring compliance with national clinical standards.
  • Provide health promotion and education programs, coordinate physical health screening, and facilitate access to cervical screening for women.
  • Work closely with ward Doctors and Physical Health Leads to ensure access to primary care services, including dental and eye checks.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and guidance related to physical health in mental health services.
  • Contribute to national and clinical audits, ensuring standards are maintained, and record physical health data accurately in systems like MyPath.
  • Ensure availability of medical equipment needed for monitoring patients’ physical health and educate staff on protocols for medical device use.
