Job Title: Human Factors Engineer – Physical Controls

Location: Warwickshire

Employment type: Contract Inside IR35

EES Solution is currently seeking a Human Factors Engineer to support the development of physical user controls for our client in the automotive sector. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the interface between driver and vehicle, ensuring that physical controls meet the highest standards in usability, safety, and user satisfaction.

You’ll work cross-functionally with product owners, UX designers, and technical teams to ensure that Human Factors requirements are clearly defined, implemented, and verified. The role also includes competitor benchmarking and supporting Human Factors assessments and testing activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, cascade, and maintain Human Factors requirements for physical user controls.
  2. Analyse quality and user feedback data to inform requirements and resolve issues.
  3. Provide Human Factors input into the design and development of physical user interfaces.
  4. Support the completion of Human Factors assessments (e.g., Human Error, Workload analysis).
  5. Conduct requirement testing and produce detailed reports.
  6. Work closely with stakeholders to address and resolve control-related issues.
  7. Benchmark competitor systems and contribute to the vision for future vehicle interfaces.
  8. Collaborate with UX designers and product owners to integrate controls into the overall user experience.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Solid understanding of Human Factors, ergonomics, and user interface design principles.
  • Familiarity with the scientific theories behind user-centered design.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present concepts clearly.
  • Competency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Product Design, or equivalent experience.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in an automotive engineering environment.
  • Experience using Agile planning tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
