Job Title: PHP Developer – Hybrid Remote (Doncaster)

Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire (Hybrid – 1–2 days/week in office)

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £19 – £21.50 per hour (equivalent to £40,000 – £45,000 per year)

About the Company:

An established development house near Doncaster is looking for a PHP Developer to join one of their dedicated squads. You’ll work on exciting in-house projects including Fleet Management and Recovery Systems, while contributing to R&D work in AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).

About the Role:

This is a hybrid role offering the best of both worlds – collaboration in the office and flexibility to work remotely. You’ll join a 30-strong developer team committed to writing clean, maintainable code following SOLID and PSR standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable PHP applications using Laravel and microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with other developers to build new features and improve system performance.
• Refactor legacy systems to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability.
• Follow SOLID principles and best practices in coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews, sprints, and team discussions to improve quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with PHP (native) and Laravel (or similar MVC frameworks).
• Understanding of SOLID principles and clean code practices.
• Experience with Docker, AWS, Cloudflare, or JavaScript/Vue.js (desirable).
• Familiarity with TDD (Test-Driven Development) is a plus.
• Must have the right to work in the UK and ability to commute to Doncaster 1–2 days per week.
