Job Title: PHP Developer - £80,000 - Hybrid (3x week in Watford)

Overview:

I am currently recruiting for a PHP Developer for one of my clients, a global digital marketing and technology agency specializing in online gaming. We are looking for a skilled developer with strong technical skills in PHP, JavaScript, and AWS, comfortable working in a fast-paced, high transactional environment.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Create effective solutions (including software designs) from product requirements
2. Produce well-structured, testable code
3. Apply best practices (industry and internal standards)
4. Ensure solutions are performant and observable in high complexity, high throughput systems via metrics and monitoring
5. Balance technical solutions with commercial constraints
6. Provide technical mentorship to less experienced team members
7. Own technical solutions end-to-end, including in production

Essential Skills and Experience:

1. Commercial experience with modern PHP 8+ and frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony
2. Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, working with NodeJS frameworks like NestJS and front-end frameworks like React.js
3. Experience building platforms using event-based architecture and CQRS
4. Experience with AWS services such as Aurora, MSK Kafka, ECS, and EMR
5. Ability to write automated unit/integration tests
6. Strong understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns
7. Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling platforms
8. Experience engineering high availability, high throughput OLTP platforms
9. Good understanding of relational databases, especially MySQL, and writing efficient queries
