Platform Recruitment is seeking a Production Technician in Southampton to support wafer-scale optical device manufacturing within a combined production facility and university cleanroom environment.

Experience in semiconductor/optical processing, a relevant degree or equivalent, and meticulous attention to detail are essential. The role offers circa £35,000 with a 37.5-hour week and exposure to advanced photonics and quantum tech.

Qualifications

• Experience in wafer-scale optical or semiconductor processing within a cleanroom.
• Relevant degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and dexterity with small components.
• Methodical approach to problem-solving and quality control.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport.

Responsibilities

• Carry out wafer and chip-level production processes including photolithography, sputtering, furnace processing, dicing, polishing and inspection.
• Work within cleanroom environments to manufacture high-quality optical devices.
• Ensure production schedules and quality standards are consistently met.
• Identify and report process issues and quality concerns.
• Maintain accurate production logs and quality documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain cleanroom practices.
