The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Photography Technician to join our vibrant technical support team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play an active role within one of the UK’s most respected art schools, supporting students as they explore and develop their creative practice using both analogue and digital photographic processes.
As Photography Technician, you will support learning by leading technical workshops, demonstrating equipment and processes, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and well-resourced photographic environment. You will contribute to the creative culture of GSA by working/collaborating closely with students, fellow technicians and academic staff.
This role is ideal for individuals with extensive practical photographic experience and a passion for working in an educational environment. You’ll be supporting a wide range of learners, encouraging technical experimentation while ensuring best practice in health and safety.

About You
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
You may have:
A qualification equivalent to QCF Level 5 in a relevant field, or extensive relevant professional experience (e.g. 3 years in a photography-related technical role or 1+ years as a Photography technician in an education setting)
Strong experience supporting students or training others in photographic techniques
A strong working knowledge of both digital and Analogue photographic practice including studio lighting and large-format printing
Awareness of health and safety practices in workshop environments (e.g. COSHH, risk assessments)
An interest in photobook-making, animation, or moving image would be an advantage.
