Job description

We have a 37.5 hour post available to recruit for in the phlebotomy department at Walsall Manor Hospital. The post holder will carry out phlebotomy (blood sample collection) in the inpatients wards, outpatients department and the antenatal clinic, as well as two external sites for which training will be provided.

The service runs Monday – Sunday. The post holder will participate in a 7‑day rota including bank holidays. If you are enthusiastic, flexible and take pride in your work, this could be the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy on patients in the inpatient, outpatient, antenatal and external sites as required.
  • Provide and receive sensitive information from patients and their representatives, using high people skills to deal with distressed or aggressive patients.
  • Correctly identify patients and label blood samples taken safely and accurately.
  • Exercise autonomy within professional boundaries, verifying and validating specimen collection from phlebotomy ward collection sheets.
