Overview

Phlebotomist III Site Lead - Westminster, MD - Monday to Friday (Rotational Weekends) - 7:00AM-4:00PM

Represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, either as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR III – Site Lead draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures. The role involves direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, and explaining procedures clearly. The PSR III – Site Lead directs daily activities at a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP), leading more than one PSR on site, and can provide coverage at multiple locations.

The position requires ensuring that daily activities are completed accurately and on time, demonstrating leadership behaviors, process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy. The role may include working in various environments such as doctor's offices, patient service centers, house calls, long-term care, or as needed. The PSR III – Site Lead acts as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource for new employees and provides onboarding services to new clients. They may also work with high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy and customer-facing skills.

Pay Range: $19.73+ per hour

Salary offers depend on skills, experience, education, certifications, and market factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities
  • Collect specimens per procedures, including drug screens and biometric tests.
  • Administer oral solutions as trained.
  • Research and verify test/client information using lab systems.
  • Complete accurate data entry for registration, test orders, billing, and payments.
  • Process specimens, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze as required.
  • Perform clerical duties, manage inventory, and answer phones as needed.
  • Follow departmental policies, protocols, and safety procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic info and label tubes in their presence.
  • Compile and submit monthly statistics and maintain logs.
  • Complete training and stay updated on phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to meetings and participate in special projects.
  • Perform Point of Care testing where needed and train/mentor new staff.
  • Assist with inventory, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and facilities maintained.
  • Support onboarding and transition processes for new offices.
  • Lead and support staff, providing regular input to supervisors.
Qualifications

Required Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry skills.
  • Flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean record.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant, paramedic).
  • Minimum 3 years in a PSC or IOP environment.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service settings.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift objects 1-25 pounds frequently, up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing, repetitive tasks, travel.
  • Use of phone and PC, fine dexterity, mobility, and communication skills.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Adherence to company policies and safety procedures.
  • Effective communication in English.
  • High-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Independent work capability, superior customer focus, decision-making skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states).
