Working as part of our nursing team, undertaking phlebotomy for our patients and assisting our Health Care Assistants with various tasks in the surgery. You will also be conducting annual recall checks and signposting patients to lifestyle advice.

A multi-disciplinary team of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Nurses, HCAs, and Health Coaches look after our 13,200 patients across Street, Glastonbury, and the surrounding area.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- Ensure patient comfort and obtain consent for blood collection
- Collect blood samples following training and procedures
- Store samples appropriately and label accurately to confirm identity
- Verify patient ID against requests and confirm with patient
- Record blood collection in patient records and dispatch samples timely
- Report anomalies and notify healthcare staff of significant issues
- Order and restock phlebotomy supplies and check clinical rooms and sharps bins
- Record fridge temperatures and liaise with staff about anomalies
- Assist administrative team with phlebotomy queries
- Conduct QOF reviews and provide lifestyle advice (weight management, smoking, health checks)
- Perform chaperoning duties and liaise regarding stock with cleaning services
- Prepare and maintain clinical environments and equipment
- Assist in patient health assessments and delegate clinical activities as trained
- Promote health and well-being awareness and collect relevant data
Person Specification
Experience
- Essential: Experience in a health setting
- Desirable: Experience in primary care or general practice
Qualifications
- Essential: Competency in Phlebotomy, Maths, and English qualifications
- Desirable: Qualified in Phlebotomy
