Are you an organised and compassionate professional with experience in phlebotomy and administration? Join our Clinical Investigation Unit and make a real difference in patient care.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist/Administrator to support the Clinical Investigation Unit at Royal Surrey Financial Trust Hospital. This role is ideal for someone with strong phlebotomy skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

As a Phlebotomist/Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Clinical Investigation Unit. You will be responsible for both patient-facing duties, such as phlebotomy and sample collection, as well as essential administrative tasks that support the unit's daily functions.

Main duties of the job

Your key responsibilities will include:? Phlebotomy - Collecting blood samples from patients with care and precision? Patient Interaction - Ensuring a compassionate and professional experience? Administration - Managing records, data entry, and coordinating appointments? Multidisciplinary Team Support - Working closely with clinicians, nurses, and support staff? The post holder will be an experienced Phlebotomist / Clinic Administrator to support the smooth running of our clinic. This role involves a combination of patient-facing tasks and administrative duties. You will be working alongside Clinicians and operational managers to ensure efficient patient care and record-keeping

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a trained and competent phlebotomist with experience in a health care setting and will carry out duties to include clinics or any other department deemed necessary. This will involve routinely handling biological samples and it is therefore essential that he/she is aware of the departmental safety policies which must be observed at all times.

The post holder will be required to perform a range of venepuncture techniques in a variety of clinical settings and will work without direct supervision. The post holder will be assessed on their practical skills and knowledge base and must have reached competency equivalent to QCF Level 3 Unit 4223/340 Obtain a Venous Blood Sample (HSC 3053).

The post holder will be required to perform administrative tasks supporting the clinical investigation unit

The work requires flexible approach to hours of employment. The department can operate from 7:00am 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Basic numeracy and language skills
  • Is able to undertake an initial 6 week training programme running concurrently over five days per week
  • Venepuncture certificate or evidence of Phlebotomy training
  • Evidence of acceptable equivalent to QCF or higher
  • Aspirations to achieve relevant QCF
Knowledge and Experience
  • Knowledge of relevant Medical Terminology
  • To demonstrate the ability to collect blood samples correctly
  • Previous phlebotomy/administrator experience in a healthcare environment
  • The post holder will be assessed on their practical skills and knowledge base and must have reached competency equivalent to QCF Level 3 Unit 4223/340 Obtain A Venous Blood Sample(HSC 3053).
  • Be able to guide and supervise less experienced members of staf
  • Supports learning and development of self and others, with a willingness to learn, retain information and engage in any necessary induction and training programmes.
