WHAT YOULL DOA phlebotomists role is to provide a high quality phlebotomy and cannulation service that offers the best possible standards of patient care to inpatients and any other area requiring venesection/cannulation services. You will assist in the provision of individualised care, under the supervision of a qualified nurse and others in the health care professional team.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FORWe are looking to recruit self-motivated, dynamic people with a passion for taking blood samples while delivering high quality patient care. With a keen eye for attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your own workload, you will be a keen learner that embraces change whilst maintaining high standards.

  • Willingness to learn new skills. Ability to work as part of a team but also having the ability to work on their own
  • Ability to cope with work pressures when working in high care areas when having difficulty in collecting blood sample from patients
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to complete all training packages including Venesection and cannulation course and ANTT course within 2 months.
Desirable
  • Experience in providing healthcare
  • NVQ3, or willing to undertake NVQ training
  • Basic Life Support training
  • Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience in Venesection in an acute setting
  • Experience in hospital IT systems
