A regional health board in Pontyclun is looking to hire a phlebotomist for a permanent full-time role. The successful candidate will collect blood samples and provide services to outpatient departments and wards. Good communication skills and a background in patient care are desired, while skills in Welsh are advantageous. Full training will be provided for the necessary competencies.
The phlebotomy team are staff members of Pathology at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. As a phlebotomist you will join the rota and be required to collect blood samples providing a service to the wards and outpatient department areas. A robust training programme will be given to ensure the appropriate skill and knowledge is achieved, ensuring a good quality of sample can be analyzed accurately by Haematology, biochemistry, microbiology and blood bank.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board Clinical Haematology Department. The pathology directorate is looking to appoint a phlebotomist to the existing team. The post holder will be based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital on a permanent full-time post of 20 hour contract set over 5 days but when required will join the team to deliver a safe and efficient phlebotomy service and provide cover on all sites within CTMUHB. The post holder will work closely with the phlebotomy supervisor and will be required to work within the phlebotomy team and independently to perform phlebotomy duties in the outpatient setting and ward areas within CTMUHB. We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with good communication skills and a background in patient care. The skill and knowledge of venepuncture are desirable but not essential.

This does not mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
