Job Title: Phlebotomist (GP Surgery)
Location: Maidstone
Rate: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Ongoing / permanent (part-time)
Working Days / Hours: Mondays & Tuesdays (flexible); Flexible hours around core surgery times

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist to join our team to carry out blood sampling and related tasks in the surgery. You will work under the supervision of our clinical team, maintaining accurate records, liaising with the laboratory, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venepuncture / blood draws safely and accurately
  • Label, package, and prepare samples for transport to the laboratory
  • Maintain accurate patient records and enter data into EMIS Web
  • Ensure samples are sent in a timely manner
  • Adhere to infection control, health & safety, and quality standards
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, GPs, and administrative staff
  • Assist with general clinical support tasks as required (e.g., phlebotomy-related audits)
Essential Requirements
  • Phlebotomy qualification / certificate or equivalent training
  • Proven phlebotomy experience in the UK
  • Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting preferred
  • Familiarity with EMIS Web clinical system
  • Excellent patient-facing skills, with empathy and professionalism
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of lab sample handling, storage, and transport
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable / Nice to Have
  • Experience in primary care / NHS settings
  • Experience with audits or quality improvement
  • Additional basic clinical skills or healthcare experience
