Job description

We are looking for a reliable and caring Phlebotomist to join our team at Tadley Medical Partnership. You will play a key role in supporting patient care by collecting blood samples for testing as part of routine health checks, chronic disease monitoring, and diagnostic investigations. This is a patient-facing role that requires professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail in a primary care setting.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform venepuncture to collect blood samples from adult and elderly patients.
  • Ensure all specimens are correctly labelled and prepared for transport to the laboratory.
  • Verify patient identity and explain procedures in a calm, reassuring manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the surgery's EMIS clinical system.
  • Work closely with GPs, nurses, and healthcare assistants to coordinate patient care.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinical area.
  • Follow infection control and health & safety protocols at all times.
  • Recognise and respond to any adverse reactions during or after sample collection.
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels of phlebotomy supplies and report shortages.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in line with GDPR and NHS guidelines.

  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
  • Experience working in a GP practice or community setting
  • Basic life support training
  • Ability to assist with other clinical tasks if needed (e.g., ECGs, blood pressure monitoring)
