Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Transport Shift Manager to join the P66 team. As a Transport Shift Manager, you will ensure efficient resource allocation, adherence to company and customer procedures, and consistent achievement of customer service levels.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday, with potential weekend work. Core hours are during the standard working day.

How you will contribute
  • Report to the Operations Manager, overseeing daily transport activities and customer service for your shift.
  • Manage and motivate drivers to meet targets and resolve issues promptly.
  • Handle out-of-hours order processing, amendments, and planning.
  • Provide accurate ETAs to customers and communicate order updates.
  • Conduct daily briefings and debriefings with the driving team.
  • Manage absences, sickness, and holiday cover.
  • Perform return-to-work interviews and monitor compliance with company policies.
  • Promote near-miss reporting to support health and safety initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate delivery documentation and efficient record-keeping.
  • Compile statistical data for transport reports.
  • Manage tachograph records and vehicle downloads.
  • Monitor drivers' hours, working time directives, and reference period averages.
What you will bring
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment with a proactive attitude.
  • Understanding of customer needs and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to build good relationships with customers, drivers, and management.
  • Self-motivation and a can-do approach, as this role is based out of the office and involves being the first point of contact for drivers.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Previous logistics experience and familiarity with Transport Management Systems are desirable but not essential, as training is provided.
  • CPC qualification is desirable but not essential.
