Job summary

Google is offering Software Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering PhD Internship opportunities in the UK for 13–17 weeks in Summer 2027. Applicants must be in the penultimate or final year of a full-time PhD program in CS or a related field within the EMEA region and located in the UK for the duration.

Preferred candidates have programming experience in C++, Java, Python, or Go; research experience in algorithms, AI, compilers, databases, ML, distributed systems, networking, or security;

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a PhD in Computer Science or related field and in penultimate/final year.
• Experience with data structures and algorithms from coursework, projects, or internships.
• Ability to complete a 13–17 week full-time internship in the UK starting May/June/July 2027.

Responsibilities

• Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve Google’s product offering.
• Contribute to projects using NLP, AI, data compression, ML, and search technologies.
• Collaborate on scalability issues involving access to data and information.
• Help maintain mission critical services.
