City St George’s, University of London is recruiting a Doctoral Candidate to join the MSCA Industrial Doctoral Network HeatMinds, a Horizon Europe project. You will undertake a PhD titled “Expanding the Operating Envelope of Positive Displacement Compressors” to advance high‑temperature heat pump systems.

The role involves developing and validating compressor models, analysing performance, and contributing to publications and outreach.

Competenze

• First degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Thermofluids, or related disciplines.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• Experience in modelling, simulation or data analysis desirable.
• Strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and engage with international collaborators.

Mansioni

• Conduct doctoral research on positive displacement compressor technologies for industrial high-temperature heat pumps.
• Develop and validate compressor models and perform performance analyses.
• Analyse data and optimise system performance.
• Contribute to project deliverables and publications.
