NHS seeks a Pharmacy Technician for Ventnor Medical Practice to join a dedicated team providing patient care. Responsibilities include supporting clinical teams, administering prescribed medications, conducting safety audits, and addressing community health needs. VentnorMedical Practice are looking for a Pharmacy Technician who will work directly forthe Practice within a broad team of professionals.
The post holder is a Pharmacy Technician and is an integral part of the generalpractice team, working within their professional boundaries.
This role will work under the supervision of the ClinicalPharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribedmedication to patients.
They will provide technical and administrativesupport to the clinicians.
The PharmacyTechnician will support the organisation's clinical teams with queriesregarding medication from patients.
The Pharmacy Technician will completeaudits regarding patient safety in the prescribing of medication and presentthe information for sharing with the clinical team.

ThePharmacy Technician is to assume the following key responsibilities indelivering health services
a.Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effectivemedicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
b.Conductmedicine optimisation tasks including effective medicineadministration(e.g., checking inhaler technique), support medication reviewsand medicines reconciliation. When required, utilise consultation skillsto work in partnership with patients to ensure they use their medicineseffectively.
c.Support,as determined by the organisation, medication reviews and medicinesreconciliation for new care home patients and synchronise medicines for patienttransfers between care settings and linking with local community pharmacists.
d.Providespecialist expertise, when competent, to address both the publichealthand social care needs of patients including lifestyle advice, service informationand help in tackling local health inequalities.
e.Maintaina central role in the clinical aspects of shared care protocols and liaise withspecialist pharmacists for more complex patients.
f. Supportinitiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriateantibioticprescribing.
g.Assistin the delivery of medicines optimisation and management incentiveschemesand patient safety audits.
h.Supportthe implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GPpractices, care homes and other primary care settings. This will be achievedthrough undertaking clinical audits (e.g., use of antibiotics), supporting qualityimprovement measures and contributing to the Quality and Outcomes Framework andenhanced services.
i.Attenda formal appraisal with your manager at least every 12 months. Once aperformance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regularbasis so that new objectives can be agreed.
j.Contributeto public health campaigns (e.g., COVID-19 or flu clinics) through advice ordirect care.
k.Toalways maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area.
Technical and Administrative:
a.Workwith the multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient medicines optimisationincluding implementing efficient ordering and return processes and reducing wastage.
b.Assistpractice reception teams in sorting and streaming general prescription requestsso as to allow Clinical Pharmacists to review the more clinically complexrequests.
c.Providesupport for medicines optimisation systems with a range of services to get thebest value from medicines by encouraging and implementing electronicprescriptions, safe repeat prescribing systems and timely monitoring andmanagement of high-risk medicines.
d.Providetraining and support on the legal, safe and secure handling of medicines,including the implementation of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
e.Developrelationships with other Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and members of themulti-disciplinary team within the PCN, or wider afield within the locality tosupport the integration of the pharmacy team across health and social careincluding primary care, community pharmacy, secondary care and mental health.
f.Supportthe delivery of QOF, incentive schemes, QIPP and other quality or costeffectiveness initiatives.
g.Undertakeany tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role,ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
h.Dutiesmay vary from time to time without changing the general character of the postor the level of responsibility.
i. There may be, onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels.
