Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Technician on a 6‑month maternity cover. You will assist in safe dispensing for inpatient/outpatient/ discharge meds, support ward top ups and Clozapine services, and contribute to CPD and quality improvement.
Under supervision, you will travel to SHSC sites, provide staff guidance, and help maintain safe pharmaceutical services in a busy hospital setting.
This is a Bank position to cover Maternity Leave for 6 months. To contribute to an efficient and accurate pharmacy service to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines throughout at SHSC NHS Foundation Trust. There is a requirement to be confident and able to work with service users, carers, and healthcare professionals internally and other organisations to ensure the service users are safe with their medicines. Under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist and the Senior Pharmacy Technicians, the post holder will perform whatever duties are reasonable and necessary to achieve the job purpose and overall safe provision of pharmacy services throughout the Trust.
To work closely with the senior pharmacy technician, lead pharmacist and pharmacy team in providing pharmacy services to SHSC providing the following services: Participate in the technical support necessary for the safe and effective dispensing of prescriptions including inpatient, outpatient and discharge medications and the distribution of medicines to the designated units of SHSC under the supervision of a senior technician and pharmacist. Undertake the SHSC system of ward top up safely and effectively to designated units. Provide safe and effective supply of pharmaceuticals to units within SHSC and other designated units outside the Trust. If eligible, and subject to appropriate training, to undertake accuracy checking of prescriptions. Participate in early morning, late night, weekend, and bank holiday rota. Give advice to staff and service users, providing information on local guidelines and policies ensuring they remain up to date. To order any medicines required for service users and ward stocks.
