Overview

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NE Glasgow HSCP for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Care Pharmacy Team in a leadership capacity. This role offers the chance to contribute to the development and delivery of the pharmacotherapy service across NE Glasgow, supporting safe, effective, and person-centred care.

As a key member of the Prescribing Team, you will lead and support pharmacy staff, promote evidence-based prescribing, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across GP practices, community pharmacies, care homes, and social care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage pharmacy technicians and support staff within hub and practice settings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and service improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver training to GP practice teams, clinical staff, and other multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Identify and support prescribing interventions aligned with HSCP priorities.
  • Implement agreed prescribing changes to promote high-quality, cost-effective care.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
  • Support medicines reconciliation and audit processes.
  • Develop and update Good Practice Guides for medicines management.
  • Conduct face-to-face medicine reviews and provide patient education.
  • Respond to prescribing-related queries from healthcare professionals and patients.
Essential Criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in hospital, community, or primary care settings.
  • Demonstrated competence through a professional portfolio and CPD.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in IT systems and digital tools.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in staff leadership and management.
  • Valid driving licence (due to travel requirements).
Additional Information
  • The successful candidate will be based within the established Pharmacy Hub Team.
  • Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
  • Shift pattern: 5 days out of 7.
