Modality Partnership Mid Sussex Divisionhas a part-time vacancy (up to 30 hours per week) for a Pharmacy Technician to join our established pharmacy team at the Modality MidSussex GP partnership. The successfulpost holder will be working alongside other pharmacy colleagues within thepractice to ultimately improve medicines safety, prescribing and furtherdevelop the role that pharmacy technicians can play in this new fast paced and continuallydeveloping area of work.. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a pharmacy technician registeredwith the General Pharmacy Council. They will work within their professionalboundaries to support the objectives of the GP, clinical and pharmacy team.They are key to maximising the safe prescribing of medications across the partnership,ensuring that targets for monitoring common medications are met and workingwith colleagues to enhance medicines optimisation and increase patient safety.The pharmacy technician will also play an important role in efficientprescribing, working to improve repeat prescribing processes and medicinesreconciliation. Working within guidelines and competencies agreed with the LeadPharmacist, they will also engage directly with patients, helping them tobetter understand and benefit from their medications. Patient safety sits atthe heart of all these activities.

The role is not a regular 9am-5pm job;the job requires innovation, flexibility, and commitment and the postholderwill be required to work resourcefully as part of the team to ensure tasks arecompleted.

Working under the supervision of the Lead Clinical Pharmacistyou will ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medicationto patients, and will provide technical and administrative support to theClinical Pharmacists and Clinicians.

Person Specification
Knowledge
  • Relevant advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Primary Care Networks, General Practice and evidence based medicine.
  • An appreciation of the NHS agenda and Government targets.
  • Awareness of systems to support management of patients in a primary care setting, delivering pharmaceutical input and support in the context of pathways of care and the business of the organisation.
  • Awareness of GP budget-management and funding systems to enable GP clinical pharmacist services to assist delivery of PCN and NHS priorities and requirements for financial balance and quality.
  • Good clinical pharmacy knowledge including terminology.
  • An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for the improvement of prescribing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation.
Experience
  • 2 years experience in a hospital, community or primary care pharmacy.
  • Primary care experience.
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Clear, polite telephone manner.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages and case management systems.
  • Knowledge of the principles of medication optimisation.
  • Good pharmacy knowledge including terminology.
