Job description

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Water Meadow View, a new state-of-the-art 14-bed facility for people with learning disabilities and mental ill health, scheduled to open in October 2025.

You should be enthusiastic, self-motivated, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and able to prioritize your workload. Working alongside Pharmacists, you will provide high-quality pharmaceutical care as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

The successful applicant will participate in audits, medicines reconciliation, and take a lead in overseeing medicines supply for the hospital.

The Pharmacy Service within Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust is a well-established team with expertise in Mental Health and Community services, committed to providing high-quality clinical input and supporting the education and development of our expanding service.

  1. Contribute to the development and delivery of the pharmaceutical and medicines management service according to organizational policies and the pharmacy business plan.
  2. Manage, order, and supply medicines at ward level for hospital in-patients.
  3. Support medicines management for community-based learning disability teams.
  4. Provide counselling to patients on medicines-related issues to support medicines optimization and adherence.
  5. Perform medicines reconciliation upon patient admission and discharge.
  6. Assess prescribed medication regimens and health conditions to prioritize patients for pharmaceutical review.
  7. Participate in audits and monitor compliance with medicines legislation and standards for safe medicine handling.
  8. Develop medicines management activities at ward level.
  9. Act as a key member of the multidisciplinary ward team and the wider pharmacy team.
