A local primary care surgery in Fairford seeks a skilled Pharmacy Technician to assist in delivering medicines optimisation and supporting patient care. The ideal candidate should have professional GPhC registration, experience in primary care, and good communication skills. This role provides an opportunity to work within a friendly, supportive team committed to the well-being of both staff and patients.
We would like to welcome a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician into our Primary Care GP Practice.
Our current team includes 2 part time Clinical Pharmacists and 1 part time Pharmacy Technicians.
You will help deliver medicines optimisation, aid in the development of policies and deliver projects for the practice to help support the NHS to be sustainable for the future.
The current pharmacy team have come from a variety of employment backgrounds, all bringing different qualities andskills to the team. We are in regular contact both in person and using email, phone and online messaging.
Currently the Pharmacy Technician role in the Practice includes (but is not limited to) the following:
We are in Fairford - a small rural town in Gloucestershire, close to the Oxfordshire and Wiltshire borders.
We are a friendly supportive team of around 35 people.
Hilary Cottage Surgery has been a part of the Fairford community for many years - currently run by 3 GP partners.
We are a small rural practice with around 7500 patients on our books. We have 7 amazing GPs, a bunch of amazing admin staff and secretaries, and a brilliant reception team. Our nurse team is fabulous, and there aren't enough superlatives to describe our incredible dispensing team, supported by our super pharmacists.
If you're not in Fairford, you would enjoy a short rural drive to and from the surgery - and if you are local you can walk to work.
With a focus on everyone's well-being at work, we are supportive and friendly from top to bottom, and (we think) a great place to work!
As a Pharmacy Technician in primary care, you will help patients get the best from their medicines. Effective medicines reconciliation upon transfer of care is an important part of the role, as well as offering support for patients whose medication may be in short supply, optimising the use of lipid-lowering therapy following well-defined protocols, carrying out regular audits of pre-defined prescribing safety measures and supporting non-clinical staff to improve the safety and efficiency of prescribing processes.
You must be motivated to work well independently and as part of a team, and recognise your limitations. Good attention to detail is essential and you must be able to effectively prioritise your workload and adapt to any work pressures and the needs of the practice.
See overview and person specification for further details.
