East Cheshire NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for qualified Pharmacy Technicians to join our innovative and patient-focused hospital pharmacy team. We welcome applications from both newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians looking to develop their hospital pharmacy career and experienced Pharmacy Technicians who already meet the requirements for appointment at Band 5 level.
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and who wish to expand their clinical and technical skills within a supportive and progressive pharmacy department.
This is a developmental Band 4 to Band 5 progression post. Candidates appointed at Band 4 will undertake a comprehensive training and competency programme designed to provide the knowledge, skills and experience required to progress to Band 5. The length of this development period will depend upon an individual's existing qualifications, experience and competency level. We offer excellent in-house training, educational support and development opportunities to help staff achieve their full potential.
Applicants who already possess the required qualifications, competencies and experience for the Band 5 role are encouraged to apply and may be appointed directly at Band 5 following assessment at interview.

You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician with a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians (or recognised equivalent) and hold current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). An Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification (or equivalent) is desirable. Qualifications and experience will be assessed on appointment, with additional training provided where required to achieve the necessary competencies.
Your duties will include dispensary services, patient counselling, accuracy checking and ward based medicines optimisation. This will include the safe and effective provision of medication and working as part of a team coordinating the supply of discharge medications on the wards. You will also support the training and development of a range of staff including Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee Pharmacists.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and effective provision of patient care. You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills in order to provide efficient and safe pharmacy services for patients.
