Salary: Up to £30,000.00 (Pro-rata) per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join their team of staff in the Pharmacy department.

This is a Part time role for 30 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern Monday - Friday (8am-6pm).& Saturday (9am-2pm).

Main duties of the job
  • Dispense and prepare medicines accurately in accordance with prescriptions and legal requirements.
  • Supply medications to wards, theatres, and outpatient departments, ensuring safe and timely distribution.
  • Support discharge planning by preparing take-home medications and liaising with clinical teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in ward-based activities, including stock top-ups, medicines reconciliation, and patient counselling (within scope).
  • Work closely with pharmacists and nursing teams to support safe and efficient use of medicines at ward level.
  • Help identify and reduce medication waste through effective stock rotation and communication with clinical areas.

Medicines Management and Supply

  • Dispense and prepare medicines accurately in accordance with prescriptions and legal requirements.

  • Participate in ward-based activities, including stock top-ups, medicines reconciliation, and patient counselling (within scope).

  • Help identify and reduce medication waste through effective stock rotation and communication with clinical areas.

Stock Control and Ordering

  • Maintain appropriate levels of stock across all areas of the pharmacy and clinical units.
  • Order, receive, and check deliveries, ensuring secure and correct storage of medicines.
  • Monitor expiry dates, manage returns, and assist with controlled drug processes in accordance with regulations.

Governance and Compliance

  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation, including GPhC standards, health and safety, and infection prevention.
  • Support implementation of audits and quality checks within the pharmacy service.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of dispensing, distribution, and controlled drug records.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Communicate effectively with pharmacy colleagues, nursing staff, consultants, and patients.
  • Provide advice on medicine storage, handling, and administration (within scope of practice).
  • Escalate concerns and queries to the pharmacist as appropriate.

Professional Development

  • Maintain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Participate in mandatory training and continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Contribute to training and supervision of trainee pharmacy staff or students.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE?

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare pharmacy setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience in ward-based or clinical pharmacy support.
  • Understanding of medicines management systems or electronic prescribing.
  • Previous experience in private healthcare or multi-specialty settings.
  • Involvement in audit, service improvement, or staff supervision.
