DEPARTMENT: PHARMACYPOSITION LOCATION: SOUTHAMPTONUNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU - HPDSTATUS: FULL-TIME, LESS THAN 37.5 HRS/WK (0.9 FTE), TEMPORARY (APPROX END DATE MARCH 2027)WAGE RATE: $32.32 - $37.26The Pharmacy Technician works within the full scope of practice as per the Standards of Practice for Pharmacy Technicians in the Province of Ontario and hospital policies and procedures. The Pharmacy Technician aides the Pharmacist in the delivery of quality pharmacy services including drug distribution, dispensing, checking and entry of orders, inventory, aseptic admixing and SMP/LOA dispensing.Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:Required:
  • Graduate of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists or eligibility
  • Unit dose/IV admix drug distribution experience
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Available for all shifts, including weekends and ability for multi-site coverage when required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
  • Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred
  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation (e.g. PacMed, McKesson, Aesynt)
  • Experience with Cerner systems
