Job summary

Twyford Surgery is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join its GP practice team in Berkshire. You will work closely with GPs, dispensing colleagues and the wider clinical team to support medicines management and patient care.

Qualifications

• GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician required.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative team; primary care experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Medicines reconciliation: review hospital discharge summaries and letters to keep medication records up to date.
• Medicines optimisation and safety: support safe repeat prescribing, medication reviews, audits and monitoring of high-risk medicines.
• Long-term condition monitoring: support HTN, hypothyroidism, ADHD protocols and patient monitoring.
• Patient communication: liaise with patients about medicines and monitoring, resolve medication queries.
• Clinical governance and quality improvement: assist with prescribing safety alerts and PQS/DSQS activities.

Pharmacy Technician GP Practice Twyford Surgery, Twyford, Berkshire

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join our fantastic team at Twyford Surgery. We are a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking GP practice caring for approximately 11,500 patients. Our technicians are trusted and valued members of the clinical team, working closely with GPs, our prescribing lead, dispensary colleagues and the wider practice team.

About the role

This is a varied and rewarding position with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills across a broad range of primary care activities.

Responsibilities

• Medicines reconciliation: Reviewing hospital discharge summaries, outpatient letters and other clinical correspondence to ensure medication records are accurate and up to date.
• Medicines optimisation and safety: Supporting safe repeat prescribing, medication reviews, prescribing audits and the monitoring of high-risk medicines.
• Long-term condition monitoring: Supporting established protocols for conditions including hypertension, hypothyroidism and ADHD, and helping ensure patients receive appropriate monitoring.
• Patient communication: Liaising directly with patients about their medicines, arranging monitoring and helping resolve medication-related queries.
• Clinical governance and quality improvement: Supporting prescribing safety alerts, audits, the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) and Dispensary Services Quality Scheme (DSQS).
