We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Preston, a category B prison located in Preston. HMP Preston is a remand male prison with an age range from 18+ and a capacity of 680. The Pharmacy Technician will be based in the pharmacy team within the healthcare department, with some expectation to work on the wing. You will be part of a team that consists of 1 pharmacist and 5 technicians (total team of 6).

Hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday – Sunday, 7.30am – 6.00pm
  • 2/4 weekends a month
  • 4 week rolling rota

Salary:

This is a full‑time position with an annual salary between £33,232 and £40,211 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide outstanding quality, patient-centred care to patients, listening to and acting on feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Focus on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, maintain patient medical records to the agreed standard at all times, and ensure standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards, including timely administration of medicines and contributing to cost-effective prescribing as defined by health in justice medicines policy.
  • Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to make a real difference.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 or above, BTEC or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up to date with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
