Job description

Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our dispensary team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. Our busy Pharmacy department delivers a wide range of essential services, including:

  • Dispensary operations
  • Ward-based and clinical pharmacy services
  • Logistics, stores, and procurement
  • Clinical trials
  • Aseptic preparation
  • Medicines information

We utilise cutting-edge technology, such as automated robotic dispensing and stock supply systems, to support high standards of patient care. As a team member, you will:

  • Carry out technical pharmaceutical duties within the dispensary
  • Contribute to high-quality, patient-focused service delivery
  • Support our seven-day service model, including weekend shifts, late weekday duties, and bank holiday rotas on a rotational basis

We are looking for someone passionate about pharmacy, able to thrive in a busy environment, and committed to continuous improvement and teamwork. Candidates should demonstrate good communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work as part of the dispensary and wider pharmacy team. It is desirable to hold an accredited checking technician qualification; if not, candidates are expected to enroll and complete one.

This role offers flexible working arrangements to suit individual needs, supporting high standards of healthcare across multiple sites, including Freeman Hospital, RVI, and others, with a focus on innovative, cutting-edge care.
