Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in Milton Keynes is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work in a progressive department. The successful candidate will participate in a comprehensive pharmaceutical service and support medicines management across clinical units. Candidates must have NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services and be registered with the GPhC. This role offers opportunities for both newly qualified and experienced technicians.

Overview

Working closely with the Pharmacy Technician Dispensaries Manager and other members of the senior team, this opportunity will suit both newly qualified and experienced Pharmacy Technicians. The post holder will work with multiple teams and be part of an innovative department in a developing trust in one of the faster growing populations in the country.

The hospital holds a Good rating from the CQC and is undergoing significant investment.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. The population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, and we are expanding facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for our communities. In January 2025 we opened our state‑of‑the‑art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre. Further investment is underway, including Oak Wards and a Women and Children\'s Centre planned to open by 2030.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in a comprehensive pharmaceutical service within the department, to wards and outpatient/day-case facilities, and to units in other organisations as required.
  • Assist the Chief Technician, Specialist Technicians, Principal Pharmacists and pharmacy managers with the delivery and development of the technical aspects of medicines management across divisions and clinical service units; support and participate in clinical pharmacy services to deliver medicines optimisation and support corporate priorities.
  • Provide dispensing for inpatients, outpatients and discharge; aseptic production; medicines safety; workforce development; procurement; medicines information; final checking.
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services.
  • Current registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician at the time of appointment.
  • Open to all registered Pharmacy Technicians, newly qualified or experienced, who would like to start or continue a career in hospital pharmacy.
