Job description

The Southend East PCN is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. Our Pharmacy team is made up of a lead pharmacist, a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and training pharmacy technicians. We are looking for a qualified pharmacy technician who will take a lead role in training and developing the trainees, along with supporting the operations manager with clinical administration.

Main duties of the job:

  • To support the management and development of the prescribing systems to ensure safe, effective, and quality prescribing within member practices in the network.
  • To work closely with the PCN Clinical Pharmacist for prescribing on individual prescribing projects or audits.
  • To develop strong working relationships with local community pharmacies to assist patients and provide a high-quality service.
  • To act as lead contact for any complex prescribing queries on behalf of the network.

About Us

Southend East PCN is located at Norton Place in Shoebury, along Ness Road. We have our own PCN building which is extremely active and is in use by our 5 member practices in the local area. We cover approx 37,000 patients and offer a range of appointments from our wide range of staff, fully utilising the ARRS budget.

Job responsibilities:

  • To support the management and development of the prescribing systems to ensure safe, effective, and quality prescribing within member practices in the network.
  • To work closely with the PCN Clinical Pharmacist for prescribing on individual prescribing projects or audits.
  • To develop strong working relationships with local community pharmacies to assist patients and provide a high-quality service.
  • To act as lead contact for any complex prescribing queries on behalf of the network.
  • Assist with the training of new pharmacy staff (Pharmacy technicians)
  • Help the member surgeries with their CQC measures and PCN driven targets (IIF)
  • To support the Operations Manager with clinical administration

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Evidence of extensive experience in relevant area of clinical practice Previous relevant experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Portfolio evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development
  • Experience of delegation and supervision
  • Experience of working flexibly and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of having to prioritise caseload/manage own time effectively
  • Experience of managing change and conflict situations
  • NVQ Level 3 / BTECH in pharmacy services or equivalent nationally recognised qualification
  • Accredited Checking Technician Qualification

Desirable:

  • Experience of Audit
  • Accredited Checking Technician Qualification
