HCRG Care Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Optimisation Team supporting inpatient services across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire, with base at Chippenham Community Hospital.
You will deliver a safe ward-based pharmacy service, support cost-effective prescribing, manage the medicines budget, reduce wastage and contribute to service improvement, working autonomously within agreed guidelines.

You will play a vital part in supporting medicines optimisation in line with national and local policies, helping to improve patient outcomes through the safe, effective, and cost‑conscious use of medicines. Key responsibilities will include supporting cost‑effective prescribing, contributing to medicines budget management, reducing medicines wastage, and supporting wider medicines management and service improvement initiatives. You will work with a high degree of autonomy within agreed guidelines, using your initiative to support the delivery of the wider medicines optimisation strategy.
As a Pharmacy Technician – Chippenham at HCRG Care Group, you will join our Medicines Optimisation Team, supporting inpatient services across Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon, and Wiltshire. Based primarily at Chippenham Community Hospital, you will be responsible for delivering a safe and efficient pharmacy service. Your duties will include supporting cost‑effective prescribing, managing the medicines budget, reducing wastage, and implementing service improvement initiatives. Working autonomously, you will provide professional medicines‑related advice to clinicians, nursing staff, and patients, responding to daily medication queries. Key skills required include excellent communication, organisational ability, and a patient‑centred approach. This role is for 30 hours per week and offers a salary of £32,073 – £39,043 FTE with NHS benefits.
