A leading healthcare provider in London seeks an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to enhance the medicines management team. The successful candidate will manage medication reconciliation, assist in implementing safety protocols, and liaise with community pharmacies. The role supports a diverse patient population and emphasizes quality improvement in medication safety.
We are looking for anenthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our expanding medicines managementteam at Wide Way Medical Centre. We currently employ 1 Pharmacy Technician and1 Clinical Pharmacist and are recruiting a second Clinical Pharmacist to theteam, but recognise we need to expand to meet the needs of our 16,000population.
We serve a diverse population ina relatively deprived area of Merton with a high burden of cardiovasculardisease and related chronic disease in particular.
The Pharmacy Technicians willassist the Clinical Pharmacists with a range of medicines management activities i.e. medicine related policies, protocols and procedures, their communication and implementation under the guidance of the partnership. This includes:
- Implementing policies,protocols and procedures pertaining to the prescription of medication by WideWay Medical Centre staff
- Implementing repeat medication procedures,liaising closely with non-clinical staff
- Reconciling medicines forpatients who are started on new medication and/or whose medication is changedby other healthcare providers
- Conducting annual reviews ofmedication for specified cohorts of patients (SMR) within their scope ofpractice
- Ensuring medication monitoring iscompleted, carrying out medication safety audits and responding to safetyalerts
- Ensuring procedures for theissuing, delivery and claiming for Personally Administered Items (PAIs) arefollowed, liaising with clinical staff and the nursing team who administer them
- Liaising with local communitypharmacists to build strong collaborative relationships with regular meetingsto ensure efficient collaborative working
- Liaising with ICS Place and PCNpharmacists to deliver on national, regional and local priority initiatives
- Helping to answer internal andexternal medication-related queries within their scope of practice
- Delivering onmedication-related Quality Improvement activities
Wide Way Medical Centre is based in South West London.
We take care of almost 16000 patients in a modern, purpose built surgery with ample car parking.
Our team consists of 4 GP Partners plus a Managing Partner, 5 Salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Care Practitioners, Practice Nurses, a Paramedic, Social Prescriber, Health and Wellbeing Coach, Care Coordinators and a fantastic administrative support team.
We are a training practice with 4 GP trainers and we host GP registrars, medical students and nursing students.

the successful candidate will take part in the weekly cardiovascular optimisation meetings, planned care meetings and medicines management meetings to support the medicines management team
