About the Role:

We seek an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed pharmacy technician to join our friendly team. The ideal candidate is a registered pharmacy technician, organized, resourceful, with excellent time management, and proactive in contributing to our team. Applications from hospital, community, or other pharmacy sectors are welcome, especially those seeking new experiences or skill development. Accredited Checking Technician and Medicines Management trained candidates are encouraged to apply; relevant post-qualification courses are available through our training providers.

This is a full-time role, but part-time or job share options may be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager and Deputy in daily dispensary operations
  • Lead development of a new theatre ordering process and support stock management
  • Dispense outpatient, discharge, and inpatient medications using our pharmacy system (JAC/CMM)
  • Provide patient and carer medication counseling as appropriate
  • Manage stock levels, expiry checks, and ensure stock rotation
  • Supervise controlled drug checks and report discrepancies
  • Coordinate stock ordering, receipt, and reconciliation
  • Maintain Accredited Checking Technician status and perform prescription accuracy checks
  • Train staff on pharmacy systems and procedures
  • Identify service improvement areas and implement changes
  • Ensure high standards of dispensing practice and safety procedures
  • Participate in performance measurement, audits, and recruitment
Main Duties:
  • Support clinical and operational medicine management
  • Reconcile medicines and counsel inpatients
  • Manage medicines distribution and stock in hospital departments
  • Participate in special projects, such as drug use in theatres
  • Procure and receive medicines, including unlicensed drugs
  • Provide dispensing services for inpatients and outpatients
  • Ensure accurate billing
Candidate Requirements:
  • GPhC registration or current Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician status
  • Desirable: Accredited Checking Technician (ACT)
  • Knowledge of pharmacy practice, medicines legislation, and computer systems
  • Experience in dispensary, pharmacy purchasing, and patient counseling
  • Hospital pharmacy experience is desirable
  • Strong communication, prioritization, time management, and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
