We're recruiting on behalf of Northern Health and Social Care Trust to recruit a Pharmacy Technician.

The jobholder will assist with all pharmacy technical services under supervision, while gaining knowledge and skills across service areas. Undertake training to achieve required checking competencies and accreditation's relevant to assigned duties.

The role:

  • Dispense and prepare medications, including discharge, outpatient, controlled drugs, and aseptic or cytotoxic products, in accordance with procedures and regulations, ensuring accurate labelling, record-keeping, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Issue, assemble, and check pharmacy ward orders, bulk issue lists, and vaccine supplies for wards, departments, and community settings, liaising with clinical staff as required.
  • Monitor, maintain, and audit stock levels within the main pharmacy, wards, and community facilities, including assessing patients' own drugs and processing returns in line with departmental policy.
  • Support the Medicines Management Service by performing Kardex checks, stocking patients' medicine drawers, ordering non-stock items, and assisting with compliance aids.
  • Contribute to service quality through error reporting, adherence to infection prevention, quality control testing, and compliance with health, safety, and equality policies.
  • Participate in the development of new technologies, working practices, and patient-focused schemes, and operate relevant pharmacy and trust IT systems competently.
  • Assist in the induction, training, and supervision of pharmacy staff and students, maintaining professional registration and engaging in continuing professional development.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Qualification in Pharmacy and 18 months relevant experience.
  • Hold a current driver's license.
