Job overview

We have the unique opportunity to offer a Pharmacy Technical Services Section Supervisor post to an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has NVQ BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science or a relevant Science degree, who wishes to develop their technical and managerial knowledge through working in a busy Aseptic Services Unit. The unit provides a Parental Nutrition, CIVAS and a Sterile Manufacturing Service.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and monitoring of the areas and assist the senior management team to oversee the delivery of our services.

You will ensure the Quality Management System is maintained in accordance with the license requirements as documented in procedures and policies and aid development in response to changes in regulations and legislation and to improve production processes.

You will work within operational parameters, agreed standard procedures and systems of work thus ensuring a high level of GMP and safety is maintained. You will undertake operational and technical projects in support of quality improvement, operational efficiency, and cost reduction programs.

This includes managing staff, processes, and use of equipment in the preparation of all products.

The post includes line management responsibilities e.g. recruitment, performance reviews and sickness management, objective setting, appraisals and attendance monitoring.

Full training will be given with opportunities actively encouraged to develop your technical knowledge.

You will be joining our dynamic team at an exciting and challenging time in continuing to develop the Aseptic Services Unit in line with the Aseptic Transformation Review.

Qualifications

  • NVQ BTEC Level 3 in pharmaceutical Science Or Biomedical Science or equivalent or a relevant Science degree.
  • Registered with Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or relevant Regulatory body
  • Institute of Leadership and Management L2 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Train the trainer or Practice supervisor
  • Pre and in process checking (PIPC)
  • Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT)
  • PTQA Clean room supervisor (APDM Leeds)
  • Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines (APDM)
  • Institute of Leadership and Management L3 qualification or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Relevant experience within a GMP / aseptic facility or work as a pharmacy technician
  • Experience in a GMP / aseptic supervisory or training role
  • Experience of Supervision of staff
  • Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Agreed, Realistic and Timely) objectives and creating action plans
  • Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent.
  • Able to plan and prioritise own work and the supervision of others in a clear and organised way.
  • Ability to motivate self and others.
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and use initiative.
  • Experience of updating, reviewing and implementing SOPs
  • Experience of conducting appraisals or one to one meeting

Knowledge

  • Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work
